As summer winds down and festival season slowly comes to an end, more and more artists are announcing their fall and winter tour dates, making September through November the best time of the year to catch a ton of great concerts. There are so many great bands coming through Denver that, on any given night, there are at least three or more shows to choose from, making your September schedule fill up fast. If you’re still looking for some great shows to check out, though, we’ve got a few suggestions for you!
Although The Marquis Theater might feel like literal hell at sold-out shows during the summer, the small venue is the perfect place to be in the fall and winter months, and there are a ton of great shows coming through this month, such as The Fall Of Troy on the 4th, Four Year Strong‘s Rise Or Die Trying celebration a few weeks later and even some great local shows like The Burial Plot to close things out. There are some big tours coming through too, and you’re not going to want to miss Foster The People or Manchester Orchestra. And if you’re trying to discover something new, catch Armors at the Moon Room.
There’s a little something for everyone this month! As always, let us know which shows you’re excited to see this month in the comments! Who should we check out in this month? Let us know!
9/4 – The Fall Of Troy @ The Marquis Theater
Post hardcore gods The Fall Of Troy will be kicking off a month of great music at The Marquis Theater on September 4th. Things got wild the last time the band headlined in Denver last year with ‘68, and with Comrades and some great Colorado locals, Old Sport and Sea Of Teeth opening this time around, this show promises to be great from start to finish.
9/6 – Foster The People @ The Ogden Theatre
Foster The People have been touring non-stop all summer long in support of their recently released album, Sacred Hearts Club. Last month, they took the stage at Lollapalooza and will be wrapping up their run of shows in October with Austin City Limits. With a great live presence and a ton of new music to play, Foster The People is one show you don’t want to miss.
9/8 – Armors @ Moon Room
Have you ever found yourself wishing you had heard of a band or seen them live before they got huge? Did you miss out when The 1975 played The Marquis Theater or when 21 Pilots took over the small stage at The Black Sheep? Then seeing Armors at the intimate Moon Room at Summit Music Hall is just what you need. These guys have an incredibly unique sound and are sure to blow up soon, likely making this the last time you catch them in such a small room. If that’s not enough to convince you, then maybe a stacked lineup including some other great artists (The Patternist & Smoke Season) will help.
9/21 – Andrew W.K. @ Summit Music Hall
Do we really need to give you a reason to party? Andrew W.K., the king of party himself, will be taking over Summit Music Hall for a night you’ll never forget on September 21st. Prepare yourself for a high energy show and a good time. Andrew W.K. never disappoints, and Denver locals Modern Suspects are coming along for the ride this time around!
9/22 – Four Year Strong @ The Marquis Theater
Four Year Strong will be celebrating their fan favorite album, Rise Or Die Trying at The Marquis this month with quite possibly one of the best pop-punk lineups to come through in a long time. Joining Four Year Strong are Seaway, who will also be celebrating the release of their new album, Vacation out September 15th, along with Like Pacific, Grayscale and Life Lessons.
9/22 – Manchester Orchestra @ The Ogden Theatre
In July, Manchester Orchestra released A Black Mile To The Surface to the praise of fans and music critics alike and now, the band is taking the show on the road, hitting Denver on September 22nd! The Ogden couldn’t be a more perfect venue for this show to take place, and Manchester Orchestra are bringing quite the lineup with them – Foxing are high energy and cathartic on stage while Tigers Jaw will have emotions running high by the end of their set.
9/22 & 9/23 – High Elevation Rock Festival @ Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre
If the hard rock scene is a little more your speed, then High Elevation Rock Festival is the place for you! For the second year running, High Elevation is taking over Fiddler’s Green for not one by two days jam packed with great artists such as Five Finger Death Punch, Korn, A Day To Remember, Stone Sour and more.
9/23 – Slaves @ The Marquis Theater
Slaves‘ tour with Secrets, Out Came The Wolves & Picturesque kicks off TODAY, bringing a great show through Denver later this month, and to get fans hyped, Secrets literally just released their massive new single, “Incredible.”
9/27 – Anthony Green @ The Marquis Theater
Following Circa Survive’s incredible performance at Red Rocks earlier this summer, there’s no questioning why you need to catch Anthony Green’s solo performance at The Marquis. The charismatic frontman put on quite the show as he climbed up through the crowd at Red Rocks and chances are, he’ll put on just as good of a performance in the significantly more intimate Marquis Theater.
9/28 – The Burial Plot @ The Marquis Theater
If you’re searching for a great local show to end September on a strong note, look no further. The Burial Plot and friends, IAMTHESHOTGUN and If I Fail are teaming up for what promises to be a high energy, chaotic takeover of The Marquis on the 28th. No matter where they play, it’s always garuanteed to be a good show, but The Marquis is like a second home to these bands.
