Last night, Tove Lo returned to Denver for her headlining show at the Ogden Theatre. If you remember, not long ago she was here opening for the notorious trio Alt-J at Red Rocks, however, this time it wasn’t pouring rain and cold. Instead, it was twice as warm and twice as intimate.
The night started off with Daye Jack who quickly got everyone into the groove. Performing solo, he got us all in a dancing mood, playing song after song before getting into a more emotional piece. This is when he called out the racism in current events and within the police force, introducing the song, “Don’t Shoot.” But even after that, Daye Jack was still able to swing us back and end the set on a positive note.
Before long, Tove Lo took to the stage with an under-lit set illuminating her body as she swung her hips and mesmerized us all. While her performance was already empowering enough, she then dove into one of her many hit singles, “Talking Body,” during which she slowly undressed and flashed her breasts to the crowd to make a statement of body positivity and female empowerment.
As the night came closer to an end, Tove Lo teased us by walking off stage, only to come back with two more songs, one of which was her newest single, “Disco Tits.” During this song, her signature logo came to life, lighting up behind her. This was all great of course, but we all knew that couldn’t have been her last song – she can’t just leave us without playing her smash hit that brought her into the lime light. And fans weren’t disappointed when she closed out with said track, “Habits (Stay High)” as they screamed and sang all throughout the venue while Tove Lo said her loving goodbyes.
