The Technicolors Release New Song And Announce Upcoming EP

The most recent signee to the 8123 roster, Phoenix rock-band The Technicolors announced new music today in the form of upcoming release Ultraviolet Disguise. The announcement, of the five-track EP set to release April 7th, included the drop of the first single, “Tonight You Are Mine”. Musically, the EP is rooted in rock n roll but experiments with elements from a variety of genres to create its unique standalone sound.

The EP is the first new music from the band since they debuted on 8123 late last year with the single, “Please Don’t Say You Told Me So” produced by Pat Kirch of The Maine. This time, the band spent a couple of weeks in the studio with producer team Alex and Sean Silverman. The result, Ultraviolet Disguise - which claims influence from a wide range of genres, drawing elements with sonic comparisons to artists like Outkast and Gorillaz but also ranging to the across the spectrum to the likes of  Springsteen and Tom Petty. Smiley states, “we definitely tried to pull from some new territory that we’ve never explored and tried to combine it with what we already know as a band.”

The Technicolors kicked off their 2015 live performance schedule with a special set as part of the Super Bowl kick off party weekend in their hometown.

Now the band, consisting of founding member Brennan Smiley and rounded out by bassist Mikey Nicolette and Troy Lowney on keys releases the EP only a few days into their upcoming spring tour - a supporting slot on The American Candy Tour with The Maine, Real Friends, and Knuckle Puck. Smiley looks ahead to the tour stating, “as excited as we are to put this music out and get the ball rolling, we are just as excited to be on the road this spring, playing these tunes, night after night. The finished recording is just the starting point for us. Our songs take on a new meaning for us live, and are shaped by the road.”

The band head out on the American Candy Tour beginning April 3rd. Ultraviolet Disguise releases digitally and in physical form April 7th via 8123. Pre-orders for the new record are now available over on the 8123 site:
