Washer are sharing their new single “Joe” via AdHoc, the band’s first new single since last year’s well received split 7″ with Big Ups. The duo have once again teamed up with East Coast Basements and Bedrooms (ECB&B) partners, this time joining forces with panic rock purveyors Flagland for a split to round out the label’s on-going series. Washer and Flagland’s split 7″ is due out on May 5th via ECB&B and Exploding In Sound Records (Pile, Krill, Ovlov) via limited edition 7″ and digital (pre-order) and the two bands will be hitting the road together for a week of regional shows in support of the EP.
Following the premiere of Flagland’s new single “Awesome Song, Kerry Jan” on Stereogum, Washer are sharing their first taste of the record with “Joe” which made it’s debut today via underground taste makers AdHoc. Washer, comprised of Kieran McShane (drums) and Mike Quigley (guitar/bass/vocals), have been blasting through anthemic garage punk and jangly indie rock songs since their formation during the summer of 2013 and as evident by their latest single, the duo are just getting started. AdHoc described “Joe” as “a brisque, spare arrangement of guitar, drums, and harmonized yowl that’s distilled to its most aerodynamic”. Washer won’t waste your time, it’s punk with a minimalist edge and vibrant infectious melodies.
Speaking about “Joe,” Washer’s Mike Quigley said “”It’s about not being prepared for certain situations. How you can’t really be prepared for them, even the ones you know are coming, but you can’t back out or put it off. Some things are crippling or terrible but you just have to get through it.”
