Los Angeles-based pop/hip hop duo Timeflies have released their new single “Back When We Were Kids,” available for streaming & purchase now on all digital platforms via Forty8Fifty Music Group/AWAL. The track is the group’s follow up to their recent EP To Dream, released in March.
“Every time we write we strive to make something we can connect to, something everyone can connect to,” the band says. “There are lots of big life events that have happened over the past year that got us thinking about nostalgia. A time before the responsibilities and the highs and lows. We wanted to transport you back to that simpler time: back when we were kids.”
Timeflies signed with AWAL – Kobalt Music’s recording company – in 2017, and have seen a busy 2018, spending a large portion of the year on the road touring nationally in the U.S. in support of To Dream. Their EPs Too Much & To Dream have garnered over 70 million Spotify streams since their respective releases – contributing to the duo’s other-wordly 700 million career streams as an artist. Members Rob Resnick (producer) and Cal Shapiro (vocalist) first met while playing in The Ride, a funk band formed at Tufts University. They formed Timeflies in 2010, and a year later their self-released debut album, The Scotch Tape, reached the top 10 on iTunes. Their weekly YouTube series, Timeflies Tuesday, became a viral sensation and led to hundreds of millions of views. Having released two major label albums, After Hours and Just For Fun, which included the popular singles “I Choose U,” “All The Way,” “Swoon,” and “Monsters ft Katie Sky,” Timeflies relocated to Los Angeles in early 2016 and returned to their home studio roots. The move paid off in a big way with the release of their single, “Once In A While,” which became a global hit, accruing 285 million Spotify streams to date and earning an official RIAA Gold Record Certification.
Fans can expect more new music from Timeflies in early 2019. For more information on Timeflies, be sure to follow them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
