Wild Child have released the brand new music video for their song, “Follow Me” in conjunction with the announcement of their upcoming Austin City Limits Live TV performance and taping June 21st. The Austin band join the ranks of an impressive ACL Live season 44 lineup with other upcoming tapings featuring John Prine, Kacey Musgraves, St. Vincent, and Anderson East.
“Follow Me” is the latest music video from the band’s breakout album Expectations, released earlier this year on Dualtone Records. Filmed in one take in an abandoned mercury mine in Terlinguia, Texas on the Mexican border, the director explains the hazards of filming the haunting video around such a volatile element in an abandoned space. “It was dangerous because mercury is flammable and open flames in mines are generally forbidden. Our guide assured us as long as Kelsey kept the flame low, we would be fine. The mine opened into a big cavernous room and our camera guy was walking backward and almost fell into an 80 foot deep hole in the cave.” Watch the video now below.
The band are currently touring North America in support of their new album Expectations, which Austin City Limits calls “the band’s most creative, colorful and intellectually engaging album to date.” On the road they’ve been selling out shows left and right, including 8 out of 9 gigs between Toronto and Chicago earlier this month, and shows in Omaha, Denver, Salt Lake City, Vancouver, Seattle, and Portland this week.
