LA songwriter Holdan has shared his new single “Bright Red,” available to stream now on Spotify, Apple Music, and DSPs worldwide. The track is the next installment of Holdan’s effortless yet enticing production, divulging deep issues and personal battles of self-realisation, combined with catchy melodies and a kaleidoscope of sounds. It captures the melancholy moments of Holdan’s past, while also providing an uplifting sonic soundscape that crosses several genres.
“I would go to all of these house parties and I would be the one in the middle of everyone dancing just jumping screaming and losing my shit, and you either loved that or you hated it,” says Holdan on the track. “It reminds me of my whole past because I’ve been loud and insane my whole life and everyone’s kinda looked down on me or thought I was weird because of it, and I try to not worry about it but I go back and forth between not giving a fuck what they think, but also to only focusing on what they think of me. So the song is just kind of depicting the mental battle I struggle with throughout every day.”
A punk rock kid who makes alternative pop that’s as sophisticated as it is raw and as streetwise as it is heartfelt, Holdan is an artist of myriad talents, a singular vision, and no space for barriers. After a childhood of singing in choirs and surrounded by a musical family, Holdan left his native Florida for LA at the age of 15. After growing frustrated as a drummer in many rising punk bands in the LA scene, his thirst to be heard and find independence saw him go it alone and come to the attention of the multi-platinum-selling and Grammy winning producer Josh ‘Igloo’ Monroy (Ludacris, JoJo, Elton John, Justin Bieber). The first results of their collab together comes in the form of the I Lost My Friends In The Spring – a six track EP showcasing Holdan’s adventure in sound, and a devastatingly vivid picture of isolation and self-discovery.
