Leah Capelle Shares New Single, "Know Me Better"

Leah Capelle has unleashed her latest offering, "know me better" following the exclusive premiere via NYLON who called it the "perfect breakup song." Reflecting back on the stages of grief and inevitable mourning when losing someone dear to your heart, Capelle crafts an all too relatable coming-of-age tune.

She elaborates: "It felt as though my apartment had been sliced in half, only half of the art, instruments, and books were missing, but our place. now my place, which had once been a safe haven, felt like an unbalanced prison. I noticed that all my plants were dying, which seemed like a surprisingly accurate symbol for what had just happened, and I started to sing quietly, the words bouncing off the vaulted ceilings and dirty windows back into my mouth: Don't you think it's funny that I haven't left the house, though this place is soaked in memories, and I cannot get them out? .. I wrote the first iteration of 'know me better' alone at the table, with nothing but the gut-wrenching feeling that I had been abandoned... The song evolved as I healed, and I came to terms with my contribution to the pain... 'know me better' is a breakup song for the hurting, for those trying to put the pieces back together, and for those who might need to just dance-cry the pain away."

With Grammy-winning producer Jeff Bova (Celine Dion, Cyndi Lauper, Yoko Ono, Billy Joel) by her side in her early days, Capelle's Giants EP garnered loads of praise in its arrival last year. Her smash hit "Docs" was dubbed a "self-discovery anthem" [Earmilk] while PopMatters called her "a hot commodity" and a "powerful feminist" when revealing her "Settle Down" video.

Off the back of her headlining set at Summerfest on the emerging artists stage, opening for Knox Hamilton in her hometown, and a Breedlove Guitars showcase at Summer NAMM in Nashville earlier this year, Leah Capelle released the first single off her forthcoming collection "alder lake," additionally announcing plans to continue performing across the country and Los Angeles, her current stomping ground. Partnering with both Affinity Magazine and Parade Magazine to unveil the intimate track and video, Leah Capelle cemented herself as one to watch in the pack of rising singer-songwriters such as Phoebe Bridgers, Mitski and Molly Burch to name a few.

Music truly flows through Leah Capelle's veins, having studied the art throughout her life at the Chicago School of Professional Singing, The North Shore Music Institute, and Berklee College of Music before moving to Los Angeles. This year, she graduated from USC Thornton School of Music with a B.S. in Music Business and hit a milestone of 100K collective followers across social media, independently no less.

So what's next? Leah Capelle is in the studio working on her first full length album expected to drop in 2020.
